All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. Ezekiel My sheep were scattered; they wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill.   In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes. Judges This is the depressing end to the book of Judges. Depressing, but not surprising. No sooner is Israel settling in the promised land than they are .

Frederick Douglass, the most influential black man in 19th-century America, wrote 1, pages of autobiography, one of the most impressive performances of memoir in the nation’s history.   But as my story progressed, I discovered that each and every character of my book had their own unique story, journey and dreams. My readers could easily relate to these characters. So the title, ‘Everyone has a Story’ came to mind. I strongly believe /5(K).

The Republic by Plato, part of the Internet Classics Archive and who can force his way where force is required his courage and strength, and command of money and friends. The Anna Karenina principle states that a deficiency in any one of a number of factors dooms an endeavor to failure. Consequently, a successful endeavor (subject to this principle) is one where every possible deficiency has been avoided.

The name of the principle derives from Leo Tolstoy's novel Anna Karenina, which begins. All happy families are alike; each unhappy family is unhappy in. Everybody puts their own dishes in the dishwasher. More tradition-minded speakers may stick to singular pronouns and possessives, but these can end up sounding awkward, because English has no singular, gender-neutral pronouns and possessives for people.

Therefore, one has to make a choice between the feminine and masculine forms, or use both. Proverbs Context. 1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts. 3 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice. 4 An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.

5 The thoughts of the diligent. 11 Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter. 12 Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and.

And they are shepherds Who cannot understand; They all look to their own way, Every one for his own gain, From his own territory. King James Bible Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter.

Christian Standard Bible. This short novel ( pages) has so much wonderful, nuanced writing that virtually every page is enjoyable in and of itself. One Amazon reviewer called "To Each His Own" postmodernist, but it also seems reminiscent at times of 19th Century writing that is more character insightful than plot driven/5(27).

Every One to His Own Way by John Vance Cheney. Stedman, Edmund Clarence, ed. An American Anthology,   He can access their memories and no one is ever aware he was there.

He tries not to interfere or get too attached to anyone knowing he is only there for one day. It has been this way for as long as he can remember. He ages just like he would in his own body, but he doesn't remember ever having his own.

He wonders if there are others like him/5. Parents need to know that For Every One is a stirring free-verse book by Jason Reynolds (The Boy in the Black Suit) about the frustration and rewards of pursuing your ds, who originally presented the poem at the opening of the Martin Luther King Jr.

Memorial, writes frankly about his own self-doubt and pain as he became a successful writer.5/5. In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

Judges In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes. Judges In those days there was no king in Israel: and in those days the tribe of the Danites sought them an inheritance to dwell in; for unto that day all their inheritance had not.

A Man of His Own by Susan Wilson is a simply amazing story of Pax, a rescued puppy, his life and the lives of those he touched. Set in the early s, when America is just being drawn into World War II, this is the story of love, courage, loss, loyalty, and re-kindled hope for Pax and his people as dreams are crushed, bodies are ravaged and /5.

Everyone has a story. Meera, a fledgling writer who is in search of a story that can touch millions of lives. Vivaan, assistant branch manager at Citibank, who dreams of travelling the world. Kabir, a café manager who desires something of his own. Nisha, the despondent café customer who keeps secrets of her own/5.

The Peter principle is a concept in management developed by Laurence J. Peter, which observes that people in a hierarchy tend to rise to their "level of incompetence": an employee is promoted based on their success in previous jobs until they reach a level at which they are no longer competent, as skills in one job do not necessarily translate to another.

And the way Books chooses to go out on his own terms at the end is as memorable a scene as you’ll ever come across. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford by Ron Hansen () Hansen’s novel verges on true-to-life biography of the (in)famous bank robber Jesse James, and his assassin, young Bob : Jeremy Anderberg.

Discussion of themes and motifs in Luigi Pirandello's Each in His Own Way. eNotes critical analyses help you gain a deeper understanding of Each in His Own Way so you can excel on your essay or test. The intention was, that, in the case of the citizens generally, each individual should be put to the use for which nature which nature intended him, one to one work, and then every man would do his own business, and be one and not many; and so the whole city would be one and not many.

Yes, he said; that is not so difficult. There has been much conjecture about the relationship between Capote and Smith. The author’s sympathy for Smith’s itinerant, loveless upbringing, so similar to his own, was palpable – both on the page and in the room.

Harper Lee said “every time Truman looked at. Proverbs“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.” Nothing is hid from the eyes of the Lord (Hebrews ).

God sees our very thoughts and pondereth our heart (Psalms ). PREFACE 1. 1 Whereas the war which the Jews made with the Romans hath been the greatest of all those, not only that have been in our times, but, in a manner, of those that ever were heard of; both of those wherein cities have fought against cities, or nations against nations; while some men who were not concerned in the affairs themselves have gotten together vain and contradictory stories by.

A wonderful fact to reflect upon, that every human creature is constituted to be that profound secret and mystery to every other. A solemn consideration, when I enter a great city by night, that every one of those darkly clustered houses encloses its own secret; that every room in every one of them encloses its own secret; that every beating heart in the hundreds of thousands of breasts there.
